Persistence in prayer isn't about God caving to our whims like He's some permissive parent. No, persistence is a lesson for us, His kids. It shows we are all-in, that we are willing to depend on God for everything in our lives, that we understand and acknowledge He alone can grant us our desires.
Late summer and early fall are crazy seasons in my life. I have preteen children, so our house is a whir of activity: back-to-school prep, then gearing up for the new schedule, getting our brains and bodies adjusted to the onslaught of homework and the crunch of a tight daily routine, both for the kids and the parents.
Some weeks are just plain rough. The car breaks down, you lose your temper big-time with the kids, your whole department at work gets laid off—you name it. There’s no way through it except to just embrace the struggle, give it to God, and keep on going the best you can.
If this is you this week, we see you. In fact, we’re right there with you.
